This trip is a perfect blend of wildlife, rivers, waterfalls and hills. Here, you will get the opportunity to participate in jungle safaris, water-based activities, village tours and to taste ethnic cuisines.

Notes:

1. Kaziranga National Park is open for safaris from October till April or till the flood water level

is low. You can visit later as well just for relaxation and other activities (Orchid Park, Tea

Garden visit etc).

2. There are optional Elephant and Jeep Safaris. These are totally controlled by the forest

department. However, we can book the safaris prior to your arrival date.

3. There are no proper 4* or 5* hotels in Meghalaya as yet. There are Budget, Standard and

Deluxe (similar to the 3* category). However, limited luxury resorts are there.

4. On Sunday, markets remain closed.

5. Waterfalls are good to witness during monsoon season

Day 1 :- Guwahati airport to Kaziranga

Upon arrival at Guwahati airport or railway station, you'll be warmly greeted and promptly transferred to Kaziranga National Park via the Assam Trunk Road. The journey typically takes around 4.5 to 5 hours, offering a scenic drive through the verdant landscapes of Assam. Upon reaching Kaziranga, you have the option to embark on an evening Jeep safari, with entry between 1:30 PM and 3 PM, where you might catch sight of the park's rich wildlife. Alternatively, you can visit the Orchid Park to admire the diverse collection of regional orchids. The evening offers the opportunity to witness a traditional Bihu dance performance and savour authentic Assamese cuisine.

Overnight stay will be arranged at your hotel, resort, or camp in Kaziranga.

Kaziranga National Park:

Nestled in the heart of Assam, Kaziranga National Park spans 430 square kilometres and is home to the world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses. The park also shelters a variety of other wildlife, including tigers, elephants, panthers, bears, and numerous bird species. Recognised for its exceptional natural environment, Kaziranga was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.

The park offers four distinct safari ranges:

Central or Kohora Range: Offers both Elephant and Jeep Safaris.

Western or Bagori Range: Also provides Elephant and Jeep Safaris.

Eastern or Agoratali Range: Specialises in Jeep Safaris and birding tours.

Bura Pahar Range: Exclusively offers Jeep Safaris.

Day 2 :- Kaziranga National Park

Early morning Elephant safari (5:30 AM and 6:30 AM, 2 slots). Apart from world’s endangered One-horned Rhinoceros, the Park sustains half the world’s population of genetically pure Wild Water Buffaloes, over 1000 Wild elephants and perhaps the densest population of Royal Bengal Tigers anywhere.

Kaziranga is also a bird watcher’s paradise and home to some 500 species of birds. The Crested Serpent Eagle, Palla’s Fishing Eagle, Greyheaded Fishing Eagle, Swamp Partridge, Bar-headed goose, whistling Teal, Bengal Florican, Storks, Herons and Pelicans are some of the species found here.

We will return to the resort for breakfast. Evening go for a Jeep safari (1:30 PM to 3 PM entry time). Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 3 :- Kaziranga National Park - Shillong

Post breakfast transfer to Shillong (around 6 hours). On arrival at Shillong, check-in to the hotel for overnight or you can visit local cafes and restaurants.

Day 4 :- Shillong City Sightseeing

Post breakfast, go for Shillong sightseeing by covering Don Bosco Museum (Sunday closed), Church, Ward lake, Lady Hyderi Park, and Polo Ground. If time allows, visit Elephanta falls as well. Evening, explore the Police Bazar area by covering cafes and restaurants.

Overnight at Shillong hotel/guest house.

Day 5 :- Shillong to Cherrapunjee

Post breakfast, transfer to Cherrapunjee (around 2 hours) and visit – Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters Falls and Nohkalikai Falls. If you hike 15-20 minutes one way, visit Wei Sawdong falls. If time permits, visit Thankarang Park and Koh Ramhah.

Overnight at Cherrapunjee resort/hotel/homestay.

Day 6 :- Cherrapunjee-Dawki/Mawlynnong-Guwahati

After breakfast, transfer to Dawki (100 km / 3 hrs drive approx.) and visit the Bangladesh border and go for an optional country boat ride on the Umngot river. Later, visit Mawlynnong village.

 

Overnight options at Mawlynnong homestays/guesthouse or Dawki resort/adventure basic campsite.

 

Dawki- is located on the border between India and Bangladesh. Visit this place at just about any time of the year. However, the winter season is considered a good time to visit as the crystal clear water can be seen with a boat ride.

 

Mawlynnong village is situated 90 km ahead of Shillong on the Shillong-Dawki Road. Dubbed the cleanest village in India by Discover India Magazine. Paved walkways and beautiful flowerbeds, waterfalls, a living root bridge, hilly rivulets, acacia plantation and an excellent view of the faraway plains of Bangladesh all contribute to the ambiance of this village. A day in this village gives an insight into the life of the Khasis, the influence of the Church and its metamorphosis.

Day 7 :- Guwahati Departure

After breakfast check out from hotel and with everlasting memories transfer to Guwahati airport for your onward journey.

**Optional visit to Kamakhya temple (around 3+ hours affair and driver's extra surcharge Rs. 1,000 for the Kamakhya visit is applicable).
